​My Process - General Timeline for Meetings

​Sophomore Year - January/February

1) Review transcript, create a Four-Year Plan, discuss next year’s course options, discuss summer enrichment and start a Record of Activities

Sophomore Year - January/FebruarySophomore Year - Late Spring through Summer

2) Set up College Planner Pro (CPP) Account, discuss testing timeline (if student has Algebra 2 sophomore year this meeting should be in late spring), discuss campus visits, college fairs & admission representative visits
3) Review assessments and demonstrate how to conduct Major/Career Exploration
4) Interview

Junior Year - Fall

All of the above if not completed
5) Review Kim’s Suggested College List & teach student how to research colleges

Junior Year - January/February

6) Review transcript & discuss next year’s course options, testing update, discuss summer enrichment, check Record of Activities is being kept up-to-date and discuss campus visits (spring break)

Junior Year - Winter through Spring

7) Review college research student has conducted, distribute Brainstorming Worksheet & Resume template

Summer after Junior Year through Fall of Senior Year

8) Essay Brainstorming Meeting (1 ½ hours) & Pre-Writing Exercises.  Distribute Application Input Worksheet
9) How to Write the Personal Statement and UC PIQs (Personal Insight Questions)
10) Essay Writing Meeting / Activities List / Update Resume / ZeeMee profile
11) Application Account Set-up Meeting (1st week of August)
12) Essay Meeting/Activities List/Resume
13) Supplemental Essay Meeting.  How to write the “Why Us?” Essay
14) Create/Complete CSU Application (if applicable)
15) Applications & Essays Review Meeting

Notes: 
  • Meetings with students are held at my home office (18 Sky Terrace, Danville) and last 45-60 minutes. 
  • I like to have 2-3 Family Check-In Meetings which are generally held at the family’s home; the initial meeting, early junior year and early senior year.
